The Curtain Falls

CurtainfallingSun’s rays fade
My eyes
Sigh
At the sight of many
Shifting to shades of grey
Darkness encompasses
Haunted fruitless frames
That wither
In wishes
Shadow chains constrain
Man made definitives
Plastered on plasmas
Printed in periodicals
Once of highest esteem
Riddled with demeaning
Dummy-down-effect
Placate masses
With minimum education
Reducing individual self
To attain the billboard standard
Forgetting in that material race
We have the power
Not appointed politicians
Oh where did my philosophers go?
Shackled
Chained
Silenced
In a second
Before free
Thought could rise
To see the truth
Of decaying Democracy
Over the decades

Love’s New Foe

A soul sought
Amid brash
Admirable
Desirable
Even meek
All for naught
My timorous love
Too lacking
Material
Beyond
Glimmering eyes
Flashing fingers
In fire wrought
“One-off”
Their selfish words
Devastating
Demoralizing blows
Parried
With truth
For my soul
By none
Shall ever be
Bought
